Nikon's rumours .... are they vapour-ware ?

Videos are appearing on utube of the two most awaited Nikon cameras ......... the Z 9II FF pro body and the Z90 DX (the much reclaimed Z version of one of the best all time DX DSLRs, the D500) ....

According to the rumours the Z9II has a 5.7 million dot EVF and a more powerful processor and a 3X faster sensor readout, it probably takes much from Nikon's purchase of Red cameras for video.

The Z90II will also have a stacked sensor with a fast readout with 33Mp resolution and a processor to match ..... hopefully it will have the same EVF as it's FF brother ...

Or is it just vapourware?

All we know for certain is that, short of some extremely unfortunate turn of events, there's going to be a Z9 II at some point. 🙂

A high-end APS-C body makes sense to me. I've read (as opposed to know) that the APS-C sales have been increasing lately. Probably because the realization has set in that you don't need an ultra-spec FF for YT or TikTok, really.

I'd expect something like an APS-C variant of the Nikon ZR, though.

Hey, I would happily buy a good APS-C camera (from Nikon) to supplement my Z9. Though of late, I'm thinking of offloading as much of my Canon gear as I can, and pooling all the resulting cash to buy something like a Zf or Z5 Mark II...

Funnily on FB marketplace there are a surprising amount of Z5IIs /Z6IIIs/ Zfs popping up for sale and they're not expensive ... yeah already*

Yeah. The Z5 wouldn't tickle my fancy whereas the Z5 II suddenly looks very compelling. Sure I won't be splurging for a Z9 II when it comes out: too expensive for what I'm earning AND doing, and I can't imagine it bringing anything truly game-changing FOR ME again as the Z9 did.

I'm still on the fence about the Canon-mount gear. The two lenses I'm absolutely unwilling to let go are the 16-35mm f/4L IS and the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. Yes, the latter is the first generation but it's exceedingly sharp after 18 years and all the repairs; Klaus never tested that one on FF so I can't imagine what was wrong with it that Canon decided to release the second version after just 9 years (shorter MFD... ~~the desire to cash in again on anyone who would be dumping the mark 1 and buying the mark 2...~~)
